East Meets West was originally released in 1984 on the Bruton Music recording BRR 18.  The recordings were conceived after the production of DREAMHOUSE, a music performance by percussionist / composer Jon Keliehor for the World Music Village, at London’s Commonwealth Institute in 1983.
Dream House, a forerunner to the revolution in music now termed World Music, was an event far beyond the realm of normal music performance. It was a fantasy frontier of complex world-music sounds and rhythmic textures performed by eight London based percussionists.  It was very much ahead of its time and a great deal more than a collection of world culture influences.
In East Meets West, Jon Keliehor, Orlando Kimber, Eddy Sayer and Simon Tassano have realised an exceptional recording of new percussion based music. These recordings are a potent collection of performances, enhanced by engineer Tassano, who’s involvement  brought an array of complex and dimensional sound designs. These individuals were working at the forefront of the sampling generation, and it would simply be an understatement to say that this music is unconventional.  It is truly unique.
